FAQ
Based on the Terms of Service v11, 2026-10-06. This FAQ is not part of the contract. If anything here reads differently from the Terms, the Terms control.
In general
Do I need to create an account? No. Our apps work on your device without an account, for free. You only need an account once you want something that runs on our server, such as syncing between devices.
What am I actually paying for? Only for what happens on our server: sync, storing your data and transferring it. Anything you do locally on your own device is free.
Is there a subscription? No. There is no subscription and no recurring charge. You buy chips when you want to. If we ever add automatic top-up, it only runs once you switch it on, and you can switch it off at any time.
Chips
What are chips? Units you pay for server-side services with. One dollar equals 100 chips. You buy a pack, and chips go down as you use the service. The price list shows what each service costs in chips.
Are chips money? No. Chips cannot be withdrawn or exchanged for cash. You can only spend them inside fair.ninja.
How long are they valid? One year from purchase. The expiry date is shown before you pay and in your wallet. We always spend the ones expiring soonest first, so you lose as little as possible. You'll see a reminder in the app before anything expires.
Can my chips expire unused? Formally yes; in practice we want them not to. Purchased chips carry a one-year validity. We're a small company and cannot keep open-ended liabilities on our books forever, so there has to be a limit. But we don't want to profit from someone simply not getting around to spending their chips. We reserve the right to extend validity, for everyone or for individual purchases, and we intend to use it. We can't guarantee we will. If your chips expire, write to info@fair.ninja.
I got some chips to start. Are those valid for a year too? No. Welcome chips and other free chips are valid for 90 days, and we spend them first.
Can I give chips to a friend? Yes, if you have a verified e-mail and have bought chips at least once. You can give away purchased chips 7 days after buying them. Chips you received yourself cannot be passed on. A gift is final and cannot be undone, and chips can't be exchanged for money or sold. Transferred chips keep their original expiry date, so passing them around in a circle doesn't extend it. Getting chips from several people? Each gift keeps its own date, and we spend the ones expiring soonest first.
Payments and refunds
Who actually sells me chips? Why does my statement say "Link"? Payments are handled by Stripe through its Link service. Formally, Link is the seller: it takes the payment, handles the tax and sends the receipt. We provide the services you pay for with chips. Your statement will show LINK.COM* fair.ninja.
What currency do I pay in? We set prices in US dollars, but at checkout you may see and pay the amount in your own currency. You pay what you see at checkout, taxes included.
Can I get a refund? Yes, within 14 days of purchase. We refund the price of the chips from that pack you haven't spent or given away yet. Click "Withdraw from purchase" in your wallet, or write to info@fair.ninja. After 14 days there are no more refunds.
What if something doesn't work, or you charge too much? We fix billing mistakes. Your statutory rights — for example if a service doesn't work — always stay intact.
Can prices change? Yes. We announce an increase in the app and on our website at least [14] days beforehand. The new price applies to what you do after the change. Decreases apply right away. If the increase is large ([more than 20%]), you have 30 days to ask for a refund of your unused purchased chips.
Limits and running out of chips
Are there any limits? Yes. You can keep 100 MB of data on the server. After your first chip purchase that limit automatically grows to 10 GB. Data transfer is measured, but there's no separate monthly cap for it today. If you need more room, write to us.
What happens when I run out of chips? Everything on the server stops, including sync, and your data becomes read-only. We charge nothing for that time, and your balance never goes below zero. If you don't top up within 30 days, we delete your data from the server. Everything on your own devices stays put. Top up and sync again, and your data comes back to the server.
Data and privacy
What do you do with my data? We keep it only so that sync works and you have access to it. We don't sell it, show ads with it, profile you with it, or train AI on it.
Is the data end-to-end encrypted? No, and we say that plainly. The connection is encrypted, and so are the backups, but our server can read what you sync, because sync couldn't work otherwise.
How do I get a copy of my data? The easiest way is yourself, in the account portal — any time, free of charge, even while your balance is at zero. You can also write to info@fair.ninja from your account's e-mail address, and we'll send you a link to a ZIP file (valid 7 days).
Can I share something with someone? Yes, if the app supports it — for example a shared list or a dashboard. You decide what you share, and you can revoke it at any time. If someone already made a copy for themselves, it stays with them.
Account
From what age can I have an account? From 13. If you're under 18, you can only buy chips with a parent's consent.
How do I delete my account? Yourself, in your account settings. You have 7 days to change your mind. After that we delete the data from the server. Any chips left on the account are forfeited.
Do you delete inactive accounts? We may delete an account that hasn't been signed in to for 24 months. We don't delete accounts that hold purchased chips.
